Chapter3 "The Seed of the Woman" So Eve wasdeceived and together with her Adam, Her partner and husband, they were pulledinto a fatal and poisonous trap. They jointly and severally became sinners. Theword "sin" (singular and pointing to one principal act) refers to missing thegoal for which Adam and Eve were jointly created. We MUST pay close attentionto this point. The creation of mankind was in response to a massive andcatastrophic rebellion and ruin that occurred eons ago, when Lucifer and hissubordinates had fallen. God specifically declared the destiny of man inGenesis 1:26. In Genesis1:26 God said, "Let us make man in our Image, according to our Likeness; andlet them have Rule ... on theearth" This is thecalling, the specific creation, and the destiny of human kind. This is thefirst ever mention of something related to mankind coming from the mouth ofGod. God had and has created man for dominion, ruling, and reigning with Him,and on His behalf on this plan and someday to extend this dominion to an entirelynew universe. Adam andEve, the federal representatives of the human race, were created with specificand spiritually-based faculties that could enable them to not only communicatewith God by His Spirit, but also to contain God's life; thus manifesting, expressing, and manifesting His mind, intentions, and Glory. Thisnecessitated the existence of free will. The debate over free will and that of predestinationhas been going on for centuries in the theological circles of the world. Everyreligion has attempted to define and determine the limit, the definition, and extensionof each of these concepts. This book will not focus on this debate. Suffice tosay that man in his creation was designed with an embedded ability to chooseand make independent decisions that would be respected by God. The classicexample of this is found very early in the pages of the Bible. In Genesischapter 2 we read about God and man entering a very interesting transaction. "19 Now the LORD God hadformed out of the ground all the beasts of the field and all the birds of theair. He brought them to the man to see what he would name them; and whateverthe man called each living creature, that was its name. 20 So theman gave names to all the livestock, the birds of the air and all the beasts ofthe field." Notice in this verse God and manaccomplish a great act together. God provides and arranges the attendance ofall living animals before Adam and in return, Adam chooses names for them. Thechoice of names was purely that of Adam's personal taste and volition. Heexercised his free will and God respected it. God was in a sense bound by (ormade Himself willing to accept) Adam's choices. In the future God would usenames that were given to the animals by Adam! This is amazing! The reason I have brought up thisissue is not to open a new or old "can of worms" regarding the subject of freewill and destiny. I am attempting to state that man's free will is needed inGod's accomplishment of His plans and purposes. If free will was not importantGod would have created man with no such ability and thus would direct man withhis predetermined paths and plans and man would merely be a player in thecosmic game without any of his own faults and sins. There would be no need forredemption because God would ensure man would never have the chance topersonally and willingly choose evil and not God. The fact that there were twotrees of vital importance and meaning placed in the Edenic Garden proves God'sutter respect and desire for man's free will to be exercised. At this point in Genesis 3, standingat the threshold of history taking a foundational turn to the worse, we see Godpassing judgment on the human couple for their decision to believe the lie thatwas spoken by the serpent. This also proves the fact that God utterly respectsman's free will. They had chosen and God was recompensing them for theirchoice. In the Divine governmental justice and dealings, the offender is firstjudged and committed to the prescribed punishment and then in due time mercyand grace are dispensed in favor of the offender to release him of the bondageof the offense and its severe consequences. Even in our western judicial systems,to the extent that the original intents of the lawmakers of adhered to, thoseheld responsible for crimes committed by them are first judged and sent tocorrectional institutions and then in due time parole is granted. In the caseof Adam and Eve, the offense was so severe that the judgment was nothing shortof death. They had actually rejected God's free offer of everlasting lifesymbolized by the tree of life and sought a dangerous path of self discoverythrough the knowledge of good and evil. This rejection of life was equal to theacceptance of anything and everything short of eternality. Man was granted hiswishes by God. Man was allowed to pursue the path of self-knowledge andself-discovery through the endless and ongoing operation of good and evil inthe fabric of mankind and in the society he would some day create. There was noother verdict but gradual death and eternal separation from the creator who wasso in love with His grandest creation that He had granted it to have apersonality capacity similar to His. God's mirror image and potentially exactrepresentative in the material world was not marred by deception andself-discovery. God passed His righteous judgment according to that which manhad desired: Life apart and separate from God. Man had become a self-expressingspecies and no longer a God-expressing love object. So God sadly and with regret spokethese final words in His concluding remarks in Genesis 3:19 "19 By the sweat of yourbrow you will eat your food until you return to the ground, since from it you were taken; for dust you are and to dust you will return." Man would not live forever as Godhad originally designed man to be and become. Man would have to taste thebitter taste of dust in his mouth and worms that would consume his flesh untilhe would come to realize the horror of how the rejection of God's love and lifewould throw him straight into the murderous arms of Satan. But, God does not operate on thebasis of revenge. To exact revenge would imply a weakness and in security inGod Himself. God may employ His anger and indignation in order to exactvengeance, but He would never take revenge. Vengeance refers to an act ofpunishment that stems of a rightful and just cause. If God had the ability or thepropensity to act revengefully, we would not see Him forgive mankind for themurder of His Son! God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son.And when the world killed His Son, He did not act with impulses of revenge thatwould have consumed all of mankind in an instant and wipeout the evil race thatman had become. Instead God postponed all judicial demands of His own natureand promised that some day in the future He would return to the scene of man'sworld and judge all mankind and exact the vengeance that is due to man. In Luke 21:22 Jesus speaks of thedays preceding His return as the days of vengeance when God will judge all thenations. In Romans 12:19 and Hebrews 10:30Paul reminds his readers that God has already declared that, "Vengeance ismine". God here in Genesis 3 declares toAdam and Eve the short and long term results of their decision. Then in a verymarvelous and magnificent way, He promises Eve, the woman who stated it all,the promise of the Seed. In Genesis 3:15 we read this: "15And I will put enmity between you and thewoman, and between your seed andher seed; He shall bruise you onthe head, and you shall bruise himon the heel." This promise was spoken to theserpent who was the personification of Satan. It was not spoken to Adam or Eveeven though I am convinced that it was declared publicly to Satan so Adam andespecially Eve would hear these words. God was promising Satan that he wasfinished and his rebellious and high jacked planet and residents would be freedand his dominion would quickly come to an end. If there was a chance for Satanto retain the control of this creation for longer periods this incident out thefirst nail in his coffin. The promise clearly states that there would be aSeed, meaning a man, directly descending from the woman who woulddestroy him for good. This is a strange verse in the sense that Adam issomewhat bypassed and Eve becomes the vessel of delivering this Seed. She isthe one who would bring the Seed to the world and the Seed would be from herand not from man. In other words, as Adam and Eve found out later that everyhuman being needs the involvement of the male and female parent to produce anoffspring (Seed), this one particular Seed would only need a woman and not aman! God stood on the side of the woman and fully vindicated her apparentfailure. God would not allow the woman to ever be blamed as the one who causedthe catastrophic fall of mankind. God would ensure that the woman would be fullyreleased from this apparent accusation by birthing the Seed that would crushthe head of the serpent. Paul alludes to this oftenmisunderstood verse in first Timothy 2:13-15 "13For it was Adam who wasfirst created, and then Eve. 14Andit was not Adam who was deceived, but the woman being deceived, fell intotransgression. 15Butwomen will be preserved through the bearing of children if they continue infaith and love and sanctity with self-restraint." Thisverse may mean many things, but it seems clear to me that Paul is rememberingGenesis 3 and how God promised Eve the coming of the deliverer and how it wouldbe through her Seed that this would be accomplished. In this section of thescriptures, God is admonishing women to remember the disastrous behavior of Eveand how it caused so much trouble because she did not recognize her position inthe divine order. Paul then goes on toencourage women to not only exercise faith and love and sanctity withself-restraint, but to also in the manner of Eve consider child-bearing areminder of the marvelous birth of the Savior. Ever time a Christian womangives birth to a child she slaps Satan in the face by reminding him that oneday 2000 years ago a young girl, names Mary, gave birth to a Son who was the Seedand He destroyed his right to man and all that was allocated to man as hisinheritance. Mary gave birth to the Seed without any male human involvement. This was an exact and precise fulfillment of this prophecy in Genesis 3:15.Every woman who gives birth, even though a man has been involvement in thecreation of the child, is symbolically re-enacting the birth of the Seed andthus such an occasion should not only be celebrated, but be a time forreflection and gratitude that the Man whom God was well pleased with him alsoentered this world the way we all enter: Through a woman! Sowe see that the promise of the Seed given to Satan would set the stage for abitter and hateful relationship between God archenemy and the woman who waspredestined to deliver the Seed. This is the beginning of a long and bloodyconflict that lasted several thousand years and still continues today incertain forms around the world. This hatred of the woman who became the drivingforce of Satan to destroy the Seed spilled into every aspect of human affairs. In all aspects of human life on this planet this utter hatred of woman and thedesire to destroy her and the Seed has permeated. As we shall briefly reviewthis unfortunate and painful development in man's history, we shall see thepropagation of this woman-hating and woman-degrading mindset in most, if notall, human societies throughout history.
