Joy
by Karl Sider
Creator God has formed in us a driving thirst
For joy
Craving the abundant life to rest and to
Enjoy
Pleasures and sensations too naturally are
Ours
Placed in us inherently to show that which
Empowers
Therefore in each person's soul a vacuum is
Within
That craves and yearns to be enriched
Compelling us toward sin
But sin destroys it robs it steals vitality and
Life
Reckoning the craving heart with lies but just
Gives strife
Writhing striving yearning still flesh cannot be
Pleased
Wretched desperate spectacles man's cursed
Soul is teased
Jesus Christ became that curse and hung upon
A tree
Just to take upon Himself our curse to set us
Free
Hallelujah now we see the way the victory
Hell no longer holds our deed of ownership
We're free
Now we're free to taste real joy with hearts
That dance with glee
Never could there be before such opportunity
Death has been removed in Christ now life can
Reign supreme
Do we now take hold of Him is life our mental theme
As the chosen of the Lord how must our
Hearts be fed
Aren't the waters of this land still cursed and
Filled with dread
Jesus is the Word of life we have in written
Form
Just to read His holy word our soul will then
Conform
Conformity to Jesus Christ with sonship in each
Heart
Constructs in us a kind of joy the world
Cannot impart
Joy that's boundless joy that's true and
Constant in each storm
Joy that lives in God's own word reveals to us
Our norm
