Yoked (poem)

Yoked (poem)
by Karl Sider

Yoked

Partnership with God most high?
Sounds absurd but God can't lie

Be not yoked unevenly
Scripture says but can this be?

Holy God and wretched me
I'm undone how can this be?

He's on high in majesty
I'm down here materially

He's so strong I'm so weak
How I crave to hear Him speak

Words of life that cure the soul
Just to hear Him is my goal

Words of strength and tender too
Words that penetrate breakthrough

Words that for eternity
Pours out blessings gloriously

Words that built the world we see
Words that now set mankind free

Jesus Christ the Word of life
Born into our life of strife

Took our place and died our death
Now provides for us our breath

As He died the veil He rent
Setting a new precedent

Now we see the mercy seat
So we can sit at His feet

Sitting there cannot not equate
Partnership to pull the weight

Oxen bound with a strong yoke
Set in place by farming folk

Strong and weak will not be bound
Such a plough would not be sound

One pulls strong the other lags
Farmers would be found in rags

Partnership with God most high
Must preclude my will to fly

Flying high on eagles wings
Hinds feet leap as my heart sings

Reckoning God's written word
As my food my soul is cured

Reckoning my self in Christ
Soulish ways are cut and diced

Brother Jesus helps us through
When He rose yes we rose too

Faith the faith directs our eyes
Arming us to fight disguise

Life the life the truth the way
Breathes on us the words to say

As we hear so we must act
Proving true our partner pact

Remnant ones who stand erect
Sow the seed of God's elect

Pulling with the first born Son
Pushing down the rebel one

Tempered strength adversely grown
Rooted deep divinely sown

Partnered with our Father's Son
Yoked with Him the battle's won
